EU4DigitalUA | Mr Rémi DUFLOT

A “red threat” from the West? Yes, but only aimed at training Ukrainians to counter the real one!
“The European Union firmly stands by Ukraine, including by enhancing its capacities to cope with cyber threats,” Rémi Duflot, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, told a news conference today, summing up the results of cybersecurity exercises for Ukrainian officials.
A so-called Red Team of European experts, hired by the EU-funded EU4DigitalUA project, launched mock attacks on three Blue Teams of cybersecurity specialists from the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, the Cyberpolice and the Security Service of Ukraine.
The Blue Teams of defenders were engaged in threat hunting and other specific tasks, which were revealed to the participants only during the training. From May 17 to 19, all three Ukrainian teams fared well, studying and countering cyberattacks, and were awarded with cups by Mr. Duflot, who added: “Digital transformation and e-governance are among the most successful Ukrainian reforms. They also need to be protected.”
The first wave of cyber exercises within the frame of EU4DigitalUA was held at the recently opened CyberCentre UA30 by the Estonian e-Governance Academy in a simulation environment of CybExer Technologies OÜ, an Estonian cyber capacity development company. EU4DigitalUA is focused on the further development of digital government infrastructure, public e-services, cybersecurity and data protection. The project will conduct new waves of cyber exercises and will continue to support Ukraine’s cybersecurity.
